Weekend in Hollywood…

We had a really great weekend in Hollywood. Saturday was a good day as we just spent most of it walking around, exploring. We walked down Sunset Blvd for a while, then back onto Hollywood Blvd. Then for the rest of the day we watched the Oscars get set up. There were loads of stand-ins for the stars rehearsing the red carpet walk. Staff with big signs hanging from their necks reading “George Clooney”, “Zac Efron” and “Matt Damon” walked up and down for a while, pretending to pose for pictures!

On Sunday, we watched Alice In Wonderland in 3D. It is a great film, and Stephen Fry (who plays the Chesire Cat in it) was very good. We highly recommend it. After that we made our way down to the Kodak Theatre to join the screaming mob at the Oscars. We weren’t expecting the security we encountered. Before we could even get within a 1/2 mile radius of the Red Carpet we were security checked, one by one. We managed to get a bit of a view through a heavily fenced off pavement and we saw some stars walk in. After a while we thought it would be better to watch on TV, so we went back to the hotel and watched the whole ceremony. It was good to watch it at a normal time and not at 4am (which is when we used to watch it in the UK). The right people won I think.

This morning we were back to work with an early start. Well, I got up early. Toby and Ben got to stay in bed!! Not fair! But anyway, I got up to do two radio interviews and there are some more this afternoon. There should be some newspaper articles coming out over the next few days, and then tomorrow we are going to NBC with Stephen Fry to record an interview for TV…so that should be fun!

I’ll keep you updated!

Hollywood Continued…

Yesterday we spent the day with John Magennis, a TV Producer from LA. He’s a great guy and we had a lot of fun with him running around filming stuff in Hollywood. We woke up quite early and met him at our hotel before driving out to Beverly Hills to do some filming of us in the area. It is an amazing place and the houses are absolutely ridiculously massive. It is a much bigger area than I had first thought, and is actually a city in itself. We went to the famous Rodeo Drive and did some filming there, before driving to Malibu where I got to drive John’s Lincoln Navigator :O. Was very exciting. We also had lunch up there which was very fun. Later on we went down to the Valley to meet a friend of our publicist’s, Lynn Rose who was singing at a fun little bar called Smiley’s. That was nice. Then we just came back and literally went to sleep. We did spend some time beforehand walking up and down Hollywood Blvd trying to find Kevin Spacey’s star, but we didn’t find it as it is covered up by the Oscar’s stuff.

We’ve been watching everything get set up. The red carpet is being rolled out and the massive Oscar statues are being put into place. It’s so cool being here at the same time as the Oscars!

Meanwhile, amongst all this stuff that doesn’t really sound like work, we’ve been sending our script out to more production companies and developing it to make it better and better. We’ve also been doing some interviews out here with US and UK newspapers and radio stations whilst setting up some meetings at some big studios with some great names! Next week, us and Stephen Fry have a meeting with a very big player in Hollywood, which we hope will be successful!

So there are a lot of things going on, and we’re constantly working out here to get things moving as quickly as possible.

Hollywood, Oscars, Vanity Fair and Filming!

We’re up for another day in sunny ol’ Hollywood. We’re really looking forward to today and the filming that is being done. One thing that is really cool is that by chance, we are here at the same time as the Oscars! They have closed off quite a few roads and are setting up the red carpet and press area now. I will get some photos :) . On the night we reckon we’ll go and stand outside and join the screaming mob, and then we’ll probably come back here to the hotel room and watch it on TV. It’s really exciting!

There are so many opportunites out here and the project continues to grow. We have a lot of very exciting things to look forward to here before we return to the UK on the 10th. At the start of this trip, we had an interview with AP which kick-started everything. They did a really great article. This has brought forward many more interview requests which we’re all so happy about. You can watch the AP video here: http://www.zimbio.com/watch/dkee31V314_/Jude+Law+Backs+Teen+Effort+Fund+Film/AP+Video+Entertainment+Extra. We’re on the same page as Oscar Nominees! Ahhhh!

One massive thing that just came out was our Vanity Fair story. I just can’t believe that less than a year ago we were in school and now we are featured on Vanity Fair and are in Hollywood – and at Oscar time (well, I know we’re not going. But still, it’s a start!) You can read the Vanity Fair story here: http://www.vanityfair.com/online/oscars/2010/03/jude-law-wants-youto-be-a-movie-producer.html

We’re really looking forward to the Oscars (http://oscar.go.com/) especially seeing as we’re in Hollywood when they’re happening. Sherlock Holmes is up for Art Direction and Music…so best of luck to them with that! I wonder if Jude will be there?

I have lots of photos that I want to post but I can’t, because my phone is not working :( . I will have to get that sorted out ASAP. Anyway, we better get ready to go soon. It is 9 o’ clock in the morning here and we’re going out filming, so it should be a fun day. :)
